1. Dilute phase transportation
There are two conveying modes for continuous conveying or batch conveying with large quantities. If the material is transported in a suspended state in the pipeline, it is referred to as dilute phase transportation. If the material is transported in a low-speed, non suspended manner in all or part of the pipeline, it is referred to as dense phase transportation. Almost any material, regardless of particle size, shape, or density, can be transported in the form of dilute phase, suspended flow.
2. Dense phase transportation
There are two modes of dense phase transportation. One type is moving bed flow, where materials form sand dune like movements at the bottom of the pipeline, or move as a pulsating moving bed. Another type is plug column flow, where the material forms a pattern of alternating material plugs and gas plugs that fill the entire cross-section of the pipeline. Only when the conveyed material has good gas storage capacity can it flow in a moving bed form. Only when the conveyed material has good breathability can it flow in the form of a plug column flow.

3. Negative pressure conveying
Dilute phase transportation requires a high air flow rate for transportation. The gas velocity for conveying very fine powders is around 2400 feet per minute (note: 12 meters per second), for fine granular materials it is 3200 feet per minute (16 meters per second), and higher gas velocities are required for conveying large particles and high-density materials. Concentrated phase transportation, the gas velocity can be reduced to 600 feet per minute (3 meters per second), and in some cases even lower. Due to the need to provide necessary air retention for fine particle size, particle density does not have a significant impact on the flow rate of small conveying air in a moving bed type dense phase transport. 1.
